Dalrannoch Farm is situated 10 miles North of

Oban on the A828, which is the main road to Fort William and Glen Coe. It is an excellent base for touring this particularly beautiful part of Scotland. There are so many things to see and do.

Oban has it's distillery and Dunstaffnage Castle to visit. There are many different boat trips to take, to the isles and surrounding areas, either with the big Caledonia MacBrayne ferries or with the smaller privately owned ones. And,don't forget, this is an ideal place to stay before you take the big ferry to BALAMORY.     There is a cinema and bowling alley in Oban, and there's always entertainment on in the evening, with plenty of places to eat.

Oban Rare Breeds Park is an interesting stop-off, it's in a beautiful location and has a cafe which serves lovely home made soup and baking.

We are within walking distance of the Sea Life Centre, which is an excellent place to spend a few hours, learning, seeing, feeding, and touching the life in our coastal waters. Five minutes in the car takes you to the sandy beach at Tralee Bay.

Fort William is a forty minute drive from here and you can visit the famous and very beautiful Glencoe on the way. Just beyond Fort William is the Aonach Mor ski lift, in which a gondola takes you up the mountain and enables you to walk the trails and experience the spectacular views from on high. There is also a mountain top restaurant and shop.

Inverary is also a forty minute drive from Dalrannoch, and has several things to see and do including their splendid castle, bell tower, wildlife park, and Inverary Jail.

Breakfast is served with a large helping of our beautiful scenery in the extension at the front of the house. You have a choice of cereals and porridge. There are various fruits available (grapefruit segments, prunes etc.). For the main course you can have smoke salmon and scrambled eggs, or a full Scottish breakfast of bacon, sausages, haggis, black pudding, mushrooms, and tomatoes. You can have our own free range eggs done the way you like them, perhaps poached, boiled, scrambled with a little cheese, or just pan fried. If you prefer something cold there is cooked ham or cheese served with tomatoes.

We do not provide an evening meal, but there are several places, from excellent restaurants to good pub grub, within a 5-10 minute car drive. If you prefer a 'night off' from eating out, if you provide the food we will happily supply crockery etc. for you to use. There is also a barbecue available for 'a la fresco' cooking.

How to Find Us

If approaching from the south, Glasgow or Oban - when you reach Connel go over the bridge on the A828 Fort William road. Go through Benderloch and we are about 3 miles after this, on the left hand side. If coming from the north, go through Barcaldine and we are just around the corner from the Sea Life Centre.

We hope you will enjoy your stay here and leave feeling relaxed and refreshed, as we know that holidays are very important to us all, and are planned very carefully. Dalrannoch is so close to Loch Creran and all it's beautiful scenery that you don't just feel you are looking at it, but that you are in amongst it and can actually touch it. You can experience the great relaxing feeling the ions from the sea loch give you. There is plenty of wildlife and many varieties of duck to be seen.

A warm welcome awaits you and we look forward to meeting you.

Irene & Fred Sims
